Shape Shifters

"We have two contradictory pictures of reality; separately neither of them fully explains the phenomena of light, but together they do." - Albert Einstein

Al made this comment in reference to wave-particle duality, which is a fundamental concept in quantum mechanics (energy appears as either particles or waves depending on whether or not it is being observed). Our entire visible universe is built on this "duality paradox." Witness the above flower. Observed in one way, it is obviously a heart. From another vantage point, it simply looks like a classic calla lily. The heart shape caught my eye today. Imagine that! :) Would it have ever been a heart if I hadn't observed it just so, from that very spot and angle? Viewed in a certain way, probably anything could look like a heart. Yes.

I like thinking of Einstein's quote with the word "love" instead of "light" (spiritually, love and light are often referenced as one and the same). "We have two contradictory pictures of reality; separately, neither of them fully explains the phenomena of love, but together they do." The two pictures in this sense are the physical and the eternal, the human and the divine. If you've hung around my blog much, you probably know that I believe everything in our world is made of the fundamental fabric of love. This is easier to grasp when we realize our very beings exhibit the duality paradox. We have our finite, human bodies, and we have our infinite, divine selves. Separately neither of them fully accounts for our experience here in the earthly plane, but together, they do (fully human, fully divine - try wrapping your cognitive mind around that one!). And for me, many times these experiences are irreconcilable. One really doesn't make sense in the presence of the other. Grief sits right along side the peace that passes all understanding. Giggling comes in the middle of rage. Exquisite beauty sits in the midst of atrocities that make our hearts ache. And so on. And while we may not experience grief, rage and atrocities as what we think of as "love," all I can say is, well, "Yes." To me, it's all love (energy) in the end - one spectrum making up one strange experiment in duality, i.e. "reality." So I plan to keep my eyes on (and in) the heart. No surprise there. :)

Heart talk

One flower says to the other flower, "Hey! I thought you were a flower. But now I see you're Love! I can see your heart!" The other flower answers back, "Silly flower, of course I'm Love. So are you!
It's because you're Love that you can see that I Am."

Love to you, sweet flower-beings.

Everything

Love includes all. Love (God, Source, Universe) is the totality of all energies,
IS all energies. It can't be only some, because it is All.
We, as the Divine expressing itself in this world, are also all energies.

So Love in us includes the fiery energies of anger and rage.

And the soft sweetness of peace and compassion.

Every color and vibration is included in Love. Up, down, inside, outside, happy, sad, good, bad, ugly and beautiful.
It is us, we are it. No sense trying to be only part when we are whole. How much of you are you resisting? :)

Heart photos of the Love spectrum courtesy of a recent trip to Idaho where I sang a friend off into the
beautiful beyond at his memorial service, and visited my best friend, Barbara.
Love to each of you, how ever it shows up in this miraculous world of ours!

You Win! (forever!)

Have you ever noticed how there is a program running in this 3-D plane of existence that leaves us feeling wrong a lot of the time? Wrong about what we think, what we do, what we don't do... wrong about how we handle money, or what we choose, or what we say, or... the list goes on and on. I remember an old farcical song called "I'm Unworthy." It began something like, "I'm unworthy. No matter what I'm doing, I should probably be doing something else.."

This program running "wrong" in our head is the same program that makes us need to be right, or feel that we are. The energy of the two is actually the same, like flip sides of a coin - it's still all the same currency. If we're holding on to "right," we're also holding on to "wrong," and if we take an honest look at how that energy makes us feel, we see it's like sludge in our systems. As a friend of mine once said, "I alternate between feeling like I'm hot shit or a piece of shit, but either way, it's still shit!" And it feels inescapable, this massive poo pile, because it's everywhere around us - politics, religion, relationships, and especially inside of our own heads.

Right/Wrong is a self-perpetuating program running on an endless playback loop: "Yep, you're wrong. No, you're right. Oh, you're so wrong that you think you're right! Let's play it again!" It's insanity.

Programs run on little 1's and 0's, like the green screen Neo sees in The Matrix.

When I saw this heart today on the sidewalk, I thought it looked like a little balloon floating in a Matrix mess. There were all those little 1's and 0's, running the rightness and wrongness of everything, with our little brains bopping back and forth between the two like so many bobble-heads, totally clueless that they are just running a program. And then in floats the heart - light, spacious, unconcerned with right and wrong, just be-ing. It's funny. The heart is the only way to beat the program, but it wins by not playing. It says, "That's the craziest thing I ever heard of, that right/wrong prison! I think I'll have something else, thank you very much!" By not playing it wins forever. Guess what? Playing the right-and-wrong game is optional, not required. Isn't that a relief? The mind (egoic/dualistic wonder that it is) finally gets its dream job as it steps into service of the wise, infinite heart (instead of the other way around). Then we are free. YES.

Transformation

Sometimes your heart is just barely peaking out there at the center of you.

And then one day you shift your perspective, and you see that your whole being is love.
And even after you realize this, life will always keep showing up, because that's what life does.

So some days your hair-do comes out really good,
and you can see a little heart in the background, reminding you just because.

Other days you totally wipe out, or just hang on for dear life.
And then...

One day you spread your wings, miraculously remembering how beautiful you are and always have been,
and no matter what happens, you always remember (see the heart in the corner of your span?). I think it's time to fly.

Butterfly photos courtesy of the pooping field next door, and a sweet husband who ran back with both dogs
(and their poo) to get my camera while I kept my eye on the flutterby. So pretty!

Love Remnants

The empty spoon reminds me of the Love that nourishes us. Love is a fluid endeavor, forever moving and eternally loving its way into its next phase. Everything is always shifting and changing, including all of the molecules in our bodies, our world, and our universes. Stasis is one of the biggest illusions. Living in this divine flow without resistance and with an open heart is pretty much the most delicious thing I can think of. I'm turning my heart to this truth today, and loving you through shift, change, and into the bliss of freedom.

Beyond the Studio

I love my job. I love teaching and mentoring and witnessing the amazing beings that come through my studio and classes as students. Today I got to celebrate with a handful of my seniors. These beautiful people have come to my office every week, some for all four years. We know each other pretty intimately, and we've learned, played and loved a lot in those precious hours. This sweet little heart was in the midst of the lunch we shared today. I love you guys, and I'll miss you.

Pure Power

There is only one power, and that is our connection with our Creator Source.
Everything else is pretend.
